QUOTABLES
" It is not easy to sweep on the road. Incredibly proud of our effort on this trip. Our preparation was very good, and our players stayed focused on the game plan. Portland State had a great scout and took away some of our favorite looks, but we played very well together and shared the ball! This team can win in so many different ways, and that is what makes us special." – Arthur Moreira

PORTLAND, Ore.. – The Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball team (15-5, 6-1) cruised to wire-to-wire 84-66 win over Portland State (5-14, 1-6) for its sixth conference win.

Hope Hassmann, who had one of the best games of her career, got the scoring started for the Vandals with an early triple for three of her team-high 20 points, giving Idaho a lead it would never relinquish. Near the halfway mark of the quarter, Debora Dos Santos tipped the ball in to cap off a 16-4 run to open the game. Idaho closed the quarter with a 27-16

Hassmann opened the scoring in the second quarter, as well, capitalizing on a free-throw attempt and then following that up by dishing out one of her career-high 12 assists to Kyra Gardner, who connected on a shot from outside. An Ana Pinheiro layup with 22 seconds left in the half gave Idaho a 42-35 lead as the teams went into the break. When the horn sounded for half, Hassmann had already tied her previous career high with nine assists.

The tone for the third quarter was set when Hassmann found Gardner again for another three-point bomb, setting a new personal best in assists for Idaho's all-conference guard. On the next trip down the floor, Ella Uriarte connected from deep, giving the Vandals another of their season-high 11 three-point shots. A Hassmann triple with 1:15 left in the quarter wrapped up a 20-5 run that ultimately sealed Portland State's fate, giving Idaho a 71-46.

Idaho closed the game scoring an additional 11 points in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with an 84-66 victory. The Vandals have now tied last season and the 2003-04 Vandals for best start to a season through 20 games since 1985-86 when they went 17-3.
