BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball (11-4, 2-0) wraps up a three-game road trip, heading to Bozeman where it will compete against the Montana State Bobcats (10-4, 3-0) in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on Saturday.
The 67
th meeting between the two longtime rivals will tipoff at 1 p.m. PT in Bozeman and can be seen online on ESPN+. It can also be heard on the radio with the Voice of the Vandals, Doug Taylor, broadcasting the game.
This is the biggest matchup in the Big Sky Conference season to date, featuring the top two teams in the conference standings and the top two teams in the NET rankings. Idaho was the preseason No. 3 team in the Big Sky preseason polls; Montana State was the preseason No. 1 team in the polls.
Saturday's marquee event will also feature the two highest-scoring offenses in the conference. Idaho leads the Big Sky at 79.8 points per game, and Montana State is putting up 75.1 points per contest. In addition, the Vandals and the 'Cats lead the Big Sky in assist/turnover ratio; Idaho is first at 1.04, MSU is second at 0.93.
Idaho has been one of the best rebounding teams in the entire nation since Head Coach
Arthur Moreira took over. The 2025-26 Vandals are, once again, among the nation's best in crashing the glass, ranking fourth in the country in rebounds per game (47.3), seventh in defensive rebounding (31.4), 21
st in offensive rebounding (15.9), and 15
th in rebound margin (10.9). UI leads the Big Sky in all of those categories.
The Vandal offense has been led all season by all-conference guard
Hope Hassmann, as well as
Kyra Gardner. The two have started every game for Idaho this year, and lead the Vandals in scoring with 13.9 points per game. Gardner also leads Idaho with five double-doubles on the season.
Montana State has had an impressive season thus far, recording wins against the likes of UNLV and Colorado. The Bobcats are also coming off a gritty win against Eastern Washington on Thursday, beating the Eagles by two in overtime. Taylee Chirrick leads the Bobcats in scoring with 18.5 points per game, Addison Harris is also contributing 15.4 ppg.
IDAHO NOTES
- The Vandals have made 108 three-pointers this season, and have made a three ball in 558 consecutive games.
- With Arthur Moreira at the helm, Idaho has the first Brazilian head coach in Division I history. The Vandals also have the most Brazilians on roster of any team in Division I with three.
- Idaho has one of the youngest coaching staffs in Division I, with an average age of 32.
- UI has scored 80 or more points nine times this year, and is 8-1 in those contests.
