Volleyball Falls in Three Tight Sets at Montana State

BOZEMAN, Mont. - In Idaho Volleyball's first true road match of 2026, Montana State's efficient attack proved too much to overcome in Shroyer Gym. The Bobcats hit .255 and controlled the evening in Bozeman, dropping Idaho to 9-6 overall and 0-3 in league play. Despite the sweep shown on the stat sheet, the Vandals kept pace with MSU through the night.

The opening set stayed tight into the middle stages, with the teams knotted at 16 just after the media break, before Montana State pulled away down the stretch. Kiana Greer kept doing what she had been doing all season long, leading the way for the Idaho offense with the same attack that just earned her her 500th career kill the week prior. Lucy Ryan made big plays on offense in extended action, and Alaina Armstrong chipped in points as well.

Idaho put together its best stretch of the night in the second, hitting .333 and trading points with the Bobcats through 15 ties, far and away the most of the night in one set. But back-to-back gave Montana State separation late, and the hosts held off a Vandal push to win a tight second frame by three.

Montana State seized control early in the third, racing to an 8-3 lead keyed by another pair of aces and stretching the margin to 18-9. Idaho mounted a late rally but had dug too deep a hole, falling 25-20 to close out the night.

Greer again led the Vandals, pacing the attack with 16 kills on .312 hitting, while Koen Makaula was efficient with five kills on nine swings. Csenge Krakoczki handed out 30 assists. As a team, though, Idaho managed just a .182 clip and was out-blocked 5-1, unable to find a rhythm around Greer.
