MOSCOW, Idaho - Following last week's big meet in Oregon, Vandal Cross Country is set to stay close to home this time around. Idaho will compete in Lewiston this Saturday, October 17, at the LC State Invitational. The women's 5K will begin at 10 A.M. PST, followed by the men's 8K at 11 A.M. PST.
This will be Idaho's last regular-season meet before conference championships at the end of October.
Sophomore Jaysen Rodriquez and freshman Mitchell Rietze will be representing the Vandal men this weekend. Rodriquez recently ran a personal best two meets ago at the Whitworth Frank Knott Classic, being the fifth Vandal to cross the finish line. Rietze has raced with Idaho in two meets this season, the best being his college debut at the Clash of the Inland Northwest.
The women will have six racers in Lewiston on Saturday, headlined by junior Pia Kircher and senior Mary Nakamura. Both women recently had a season-best race at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Oregon, all while competing against many other Division I athletes. The other Vandal women ready to race this weekend are juniors Lydia Nance and Sara Casebolt, along with freshmen-duo Micah Redding and Kadance Holso.
