MOSCOW, Idaho - After a pair of dual meets to open the year, Week 3 of the season will feature a trio of Idaho swimmers heading to Long Beach for the annual Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Open Water Championships.
The Vandals are in their second season in the new conference but are sending representatives to the Open Water meet for the third year in a row. Former UI record-holder Ginger Kiefer won the 5K outright in the 2024-25 campaign and earned a berth to the Open Water Nationals at the end of the year.
Juniors Holly Lenarz and Marie Mason, regulars in the UI record books in their own right, are each set to compete in their third consecutive open water meet at the college level. Lenarz finished 12th overall as a freshman with a 5K time of 1:09:31 and topped that by nearly two full minutes the year after (1:07:32). Mason clocked a 1:16:01 the first time around and lapped that time in 2025 (1:17:09). Second-year Vandal Gabriella Stanton swam in last season's rendition and recorded a 1:09:39, bringing a lot of familiarity to this season's competition.
The women's 5K will commence at 10:30 AM PT, and can be viewed at Game On Live Studio, with results posted on govandals.com following the conclusion of the meet.
