MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Swim and Dive opened its home schedule with a 232-62 victory over Seattle U on Friday, earning a strong team win before heading to Long Beach, California, for the MPSF Open Water Championships.
On the diving boards, last year's NCAA Zone E Championships participant Amelia Ward claimed first place in the 3-meter dive with a score of 290.17. Saige Anderson followed in second with 230.55, while freshman Morgan Christian rounded out the top three at 226.35. Ward also captured the 1-meter title with a score of 280.71.
The swimming events began with the 200-yard medley relay, where the experienced team of Katy Foley, Courtney Crawford, Adelaide McRoberts, and Isabelle Borke secured first place in 1:46.17. Idaho added another top-three finish as Grace Benson, Kirsten Sautel, Italia Ingle, and Sydney Heasman placed third with a time of 1:48.10.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, First Team All-MPSF honoree Marie Mason led the field with a time of 10:36.49. Ena Lehmann followed in second at 10:47.29. The Vandals continued their success in the 200-yard freestyle, where freshman Bella Liao claimed first place in 1:54.56, improving on her previous best in just her second week of collegiate competition. Isabelle Borke finished close behind in 1:54.60, while Elly Lewis took third in 1:55.51.
The Vandals continued to collect victories in the backstroke and breaststroke. Foley won the 100-yard backstroke in 57.29, followed by Benson in 58.69. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Courtney Crawford touched the wall first in 1:05.40, with Kirsten Sautel taking second in 1:06.12.
Idaho also had a strong showing in the 200-yard butterfly, led by Holly Lenarz, who finished first in 2:08.28. Italia Ingle placed second in 2:11.96, while Becca Koza rounded out the top three at 2:17.11. In the 50-yard freestyle, Sadie Schaffer earned first place in 24.77, while Sydney Heasman finished third in 24.81.
Borke added another victory in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 52.77. Schaffer followed in second at 53.71. Foley continued her success in the 200-yard backstroke, taking first place with a time of 2:05.56.
The Vandals swept the top three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Crawford leading the way in 2:21.65. Sautel followed in 2:25.29, while Natalie Charles finished third in 2:26.27.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Holly Lenarz claimed first place with a time of 5:10.24. Bella Liao followed in second at 5:14.96, while Gabriella Stanton finished third in 5:19.14. McRoberts added another event win in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 58.31. Mason captured the 200-yard individual medley title with a time of 2:09.96, ahead of teammate Madison Williams, who finished second in 2:10.08.
Idaho closed out the meet with strong performances in the relays. The team of Foley, Liao, Heasman, and Borke took first place in 3:35.23. Another Vandal squad featuring Schaffer, Lenarz, Koza, and Brigid Dinnen also earned a top-two finish in 3:37.58.
