Idaho, Boise State to Renew Historic Rivalry, Schedule Game in 2031

BOISE, Idaho – The rivalry is back.

In a historic announcement at the Idaho state capitol, Governor Brad Little announced that the Idaho Vandals and Boise State Broncos will renew their football rivalry in a game scheduled for Sept. 6, 2031, in Boise.

"We are excited to renew our rivalry with Boise State and get back on the football field in 2031," Terry Gawlik, Idaho's Director of Athletics, said of the renewed rivalry. "We know how much this game means for both fan bases and the entire Gem State. I am grateful for the work of our staff, led by Tim Mooney, and the cooperation of Bronco Athletics. Thank you to Jeremiah Dickey for working together on this and to President Scott Green and Dr. Jeremiah Shinn at Boise State for helping us finalize this agreement."

This is the 41st all-time meeting between the Gem State's Flagship University and Boise State. Idaho has won eight games against the Broncos in Boise, and when the two sides were meeting on an annual basis as members of the Big Sky Conference, the Vandals racked up 17 wins against BSU.

The old rivals have played 20 times in Boise, splitting the series in Treasure Valley 10-10, including the famous 62-16 and 64-19 Idaho victories in 1992 and 1996.

Idaho has recorded 73 all-time victories against teams that make up the new PAC-12 Conference. The Vandals have faced Boise State third most of the teams that comprise the PAC-12, behind Washington State and Oregon State.
