MOSCOW, Idaho - Ā In front of a rambunctious home crowd of 2,326, Idaho never trailed en route to a 99–69 victory on Saturday in the second round of this season's Battle for King Spud, to return the trophy to Moscow for the first time since 1969.

HEAR FROM COACH
"It's nice to see those results come; it's nice for the outcome to be there," head coach Alex Pribble said postgame. "It's really great for our community and crowd, to be able to be recognized like that and take home the trophy and those rivalry games are big for a lot of those alumni sitting right there. [It's a] great moment for the program and what we're trying to build. This is just a big step forward for our group and as we get towards the Big Sky Tournament in Boise, this is just a big step towards that. It's great to have King Spud, win by a good amount, and go home with a big smile on your face"Ā

HOW IT HAPPENED
The boys in Black and Gold came out firing, opening the game with an eight point run that immediately set the tone. Idaho State responded by matching UI bucket for bucket over the next four minutes, before Isaiah Brickner splashed a quick catch and shoot three off a missed free throw to open a run of three straight triples as the Vandals built a 22 point gap.

ICCU Arena's positive energy reached its first half peak just six minutes later when Brickner broke free to throw down a massive left handed tomahawk to push Idaho's lead to nearly 30.

By halftime, the Vandals had poured in 60 points, marking the second 60-point half of the Pribble era, while only holding the Bengals to 30. Brickner and Kolton Mitchell matched the ISU total on their own in the opening 20, scoring 15 a piece, while Jackson Rasmussen added 12 points.Ā

Idaho kept the status quo in the second half, maintaining a lead of at least 27 points throughout the final 20 minutes. Brody Rowbury provided the highlight of the period, passing 1,000 career points on a set of foul shots late in the game to earn a standing ovation from the lively Vandal faithful.Ā

UI's relentless scoring and defensive pressure carried them to a 99–69 victory, capping a complete team effort and a memorable performance to bring the King Spud trophy back to Moscow and claim Idaho's largest win over its in-state rival in over 35 years.
