GAME NOTES (PDF)
MOSCOW, Idaho – History is on the line.
The Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball team (24-5, 15-1) returns to ICCU Arena with a chance to make history on Saturday, as it squares off against the Northern Colorado Bears (21-8, 12-4).
The game will tip off at 3:30 p.m., or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Idaho Men's Basketball game, which tips off at 1 p.m. Doug Taylor, the Voice of the Vandals, can be heard over the airwaves on the Vandal Athletics Radio Network with the pregame show starting 20 minutes before tipoff.
Idaho's magic number to clinch the regular season Big Sky Conference championship and the No. 1 seed in next week's conference tournament is one. If the Vandals win
or if the Montana State Bobcats lose, Idaho will clinch at least a share of the Big Sky Conference regular season title and will solidify its spot as the top seed in the conference tournament. Should Idaho win, it would be the first time any Vandal team has cut down the nets in ICCU Arena history.
The Vandals currently sit in first place in the Big Sky Conference. Head Coach
Arthur Moreira's squad is currently on a 13-game winning streak – the program's second-longest winning streak ever. With 24 wins, Idaho has recorded its most wins in a decade, and the sixth-most in program history. With 15 conference wins, the 2025-26 Vandals have now reached the 15-win mark in conference play for the fourth time in program history. The record is 16, which was accomplished in the 2018-19 season.
In addition, Saturday's contest is Idaho's senior day. The Vandals will be celebrating the careers of seven of their players:
Lorena Barbosa,
Sarah Brans,
Anja Bukvic,
Catelyn Deaver, Debora Dos Santos,
Kyra Gardner, and
Mary McMorris. A ceremony will be held to celebrate them in between the men's and women's games.
With an average of nearly 80 points per game this season, Idaho has the highest-scoring offense in the Big Sky over the course of this year. The Vandals currently have four players who are averaging double-digits in scoring with
Hope Hassmann,
Kyra Gardner, Debora Dos Santos, and
Ana Pinheiro. 80 has been a magic number this season for Idaho. The Vandals have reached the 80-point plateau 17 times this year and have a 16-1 record in those games.
Idaho is also one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, led by Dos Santos, who is grabbing nearly eight rebounds per contest. As a team, the Vandals lead the Big Sky Conference in every major rebounding statistic and are ranked in the national top 20 in each of those categories, too. As one of the most elite rebounding teams in the country, Idaho has outrebounded opponents in 25 of its 29 games this season, tallying a 21-4 record when they grab more boards than its foes. Idaho is coming off a game in which it corralled 66 rebounds – the most the Vandals have had in a single game since the 2021 season.
Northern Colorado comes into the game as one of the most improved teams in the conference from last season. The Bears were picked seventh and ninth in the Big Sky Conference preseason coaches and media polls, and currently sit in third place. Northern Colorado has one of the top defenses in the Big Sky, holding opponents to just 60 points per contest.
PROMOTIONS
Idaho will be giving out free slap koozies to the first 500 fans in attendance to tomorrow's games. For students in attendance for the women's game, there will be special raffles and giveaways, including free golf, movie passes, and charm keychains. There will also be free pizza for all students who stay until halftime of the women's games.
