Vandal Women's Hoops Named Big Sky Commissioner's Team of the Month

FARMINGTON, Utah – The Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball team was named February's Big Sky Conference Commissioner's Team of the Month, the conference announced on Thursday afternoon.

The monthly award goes to the Big Sky team of any sport that had the best overall performance for the entire month. In February, the Vandals went a flawless 8-0, and on the last day of the month, Idaho clinched a share of the regular-season conference championship and sealed up the No. 1 seed in the Big Sky Conference tournament.

At the beginning of February, Idaho recorded another marquee win against the Montana State Bobcats in ICCU Arena. It was an overtime thriller in front of a huge crowd in Moscow that set the tone for the remainder of the month and put the Vandals in pole position to claim the conference crown.

In what has proved to be a historic season, Idaho has tied its longest winning streak in the NCAA era and is in the midst of a 15-game winning streak. The Vandals also tied a school record with 14 home wins and broke the school record for most conference wins in a season with 17.

In the most recent Mid-Major Top 25 polls, Idaho is ranked No. 16 and was the biggest mover, jumping up from No. 21. The Vandals have been ranked in the polls for the last four weeks.

Head Coach Arthur Moreira and company take off for Boise and the Big Sky tournament this Friday, and play their first game on Sunday.

UP NEXT: The No. 1 seed Idaho Vandals will play the winner of the No. 9 Weber State-No. 10 Portland State game. Idaho will tipoff against that winner on Sunday, March 8 at 11 a.m. PT. The game can be seen on ESPN+.
