MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Track and Field is headed separate ways to three different meets this weekend with over 60 athletes competing. The largest group will travel back to Spokane, Wash. for the Whitworth Peace Meet on April 3. Others are set to compete at the Stanford Invite in Stanford, Calif. and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco. Both are two-day events taking place on April 3 and 4.
The Whitworth Peace Meet will kick off at 12:50 p.m. on Friday and continue into the night. Spokane-bound runners to watch include sophomore
Keenan Kuntz and senior Ashley Hollenbeck Willems. The women's relay teams are expected to secure medal finishes as well. Kuntz will be running in multiple events after finding gold in the 100m two weeks ago. He also reached a new personal best of 10.36. Hollenbeck Willems also placed first at the Sam Adams Classic in the 100m and 200m and is expected to run those same events this weekend.
On the jumps and throws side, senior Sydnie Zywina is making her outdoor debut for Idaho in the tiple and long jump following her major performance at the 2026 Big Sky Indoor Conference meet. Senior
Blake Sturgis will also be competing in men's javelin after his 68.28m throw last weekend.
The Stanford Invite will run all day on Friday and Saturday with over 10 Idaho athletes competing. A majority of throwers will be showcased, including
Kathryn Burnette. The freshman has seen multiple podiums this season and will continue her campaign in the shot put, discus, and hammer throws this weekend. Sophomore
Evan Hartt will be throwing in those three events as well.
The Mike Fanelli Track Classic will seeing a smaller group of Idaho runners. While the event runs through the weekend, the Vandals are only set to compete on Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m. Long distance runners will be highlighted in San Francisco, including sophomore and senior duo,
Zac Knapp and
Miles Ferguson, in the 5000m.
UP NEXT
The Vandals will travel right back to Spokane, Wash. next weekend for the Jeff Rahn Classic on Friday, April 10.
