Vandal Hoops Signs Spokane Native, St. Thomas Transfer Ryan Lafferty

MOSCOW, Idaho - Continuing the trend of recruiting the top talent in the northwest, Idaho Basketball head coach Alex Pribble and staff announce the signing of Ryan Lafferty, a 6'5" guard coming in from the University of St. Thomas of the Summit League.

Hailing from just down the street in Spokane, Lafferty graduated from Mt. Spokane High School in 2024 after a decorated prep career, including being named the 23-24 WIBCA AAA State Player of the Year, Greater Spokane League MVP, First Team All-State and First Team All-League. In his final two years, he led Mt. Spokane to a combined 47-9 record, going 26-2 in district play. He averaged 19.1 PPG, 5.1 AST, 5.2 RPG, and 2 STL as a senior and graduated as one of only two players in program history to score 1,000 career points (1,222)

As a freshman at St. Thomas, Lafferty appeared in 21 contests, posting a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds vs. Crown College, the latter a single-game record for the program in its Division I era. He shot 51.5% from the field in the 24-25 season and went 3-0 against Big Sky opposition all year long as the Tommies knocked off Portland State, Northern Colorado, and Montana in the non-con slate.

As a sophomore, Lafferty played in 11 games, averaging nearly double his minutes (13.4) from the year prior. He shot 41.7% from the floor and picked up five rebounds in the Tommies' win over Lawrence.

Pribble sees what Lafferty brings to the Vandals and is excited to get the Spokane native back close to home.

"Ryan is a leader and a winner," said the head coach. "He has a terrific energy about him, and he has all the physical tools to be an immediate impact player. He is a local kid who had a terrific high school career at Mt. Spokane. He is a two-way guy who competes at a high level on both ends of the court. Ryan will be a leader in our program and in this community. He is a terrific young man."

Lafferty comes to Idaho as the fourth transfer to sign for the black and gold, joining Kase Wynott (Washington State), Diego Trejo-Delgado (Saint Martin's), and Hudson Ward (Western Michigan).
