MOSCOW, Idaho – The Vandals get ready to take on Spokane once again at the Jeff Rahn Classic. Over 80 athletes are expected to represent Idaho Track & Field on Friday, April 10 in a range of events. Field events are set to start at 1:30 p.m. while runners will begin at 3:30 p.m.
The men will begin the day with junior
Tyler Graff in the 3000m steeplechase, followed by in the 4x100m relay with sophomore
Keenan Kuntz. Both men's relay teams look strong this weekend and are expected to finish high on the podium, with two Idaho teams competing in the 4x400m. Kuntz, an anchor for the Vandals, will also run the 100m and 200m sprints after earning PRs in both events last weekend. The 1500m is another event to watch for the men as seven Vandals are expected to compete.
On the field, junior
Gioele Tengattini, one of Idaho's strongest, will throw shot put and discus alongside sophomore
Evan Hartt. Along with them, senior Caden Hottman and sophomores
Mason Andulajevic and
Bradley Hottman will look to become a powerful trio in the hammer throw.
The women's relay teams are also looking strong with their eyes set on gold. Three of the 4x100m runners, senior Ashley Hollenbeck Willems, junior
Jana Willems, and sophomore
Alyssa Marsh, are anticipated to sweep the podium in the 100m as well. Other women's events to look out for include the 400m hurdles, 200m, and freshman Makenna Ritter in the 400m.
Aside from track, the Vandal women will be seen in a variety of throwing events on Friday. Freshman
Kathryn Burnette will compete in shot put, her strongest event for Idaho, along with senior
Beatriz Marciano. Multiple women will also represent the silver and gold in the hammer throw, javelin, and discus.
