MOSCOW, Idaho - With summer workouts officially underway as the calendar rolls over to June, Thomas Ford Jr. has secured the latest addition to the 2026 roster, signing the last weapon for Ian Shoemaker's offense in Markel Taylor out of Sacramento City College.

MARKEL TAYLOR - WIDE RECEIVER - SACRAMENTO CITY COLLEGE
A 6'2" receiver originally from Sacramento, CA, Markel Taylor spent the 2025 season close to home at Sacramento City College, where he was teammates with one of the Vandals' spring signees in linebacker Davon Donaldson. While suiting up for the Panthers, Taylor appeared in nine games, notching 25 receptions for 425 yards and three scores. His breakout contest came against Foothill College in September, where he tallied five grabs for 94 yards and the game-winning TD in the final seconds of SCC's 14-10 win. Taylor finished the 2025 campaign recording at least 60 yards receiving in four games and also returned a punt 32 yards vs. Fresno. 

The Sacramento native played his prep career close to home as well, starring at Sacramento HS, where he amassed 32 catches for 521 yards and four TDs in just twelve varsity games, averaging nearly 60 all-purpose yards per game and showcasing the talent that he demonstrates at the highest level.

Taylor will add another weapon to a loaded receiver room that just added Zack Card from Oregon State the week prior and features notable returners from the 2025 season in Ryan Jezioro, Tony Harste, and Nolan McWilliams. The players have returned to campus for the start of summer workouts, the next step in the countdown towards fall camp and the eventual season opener in San Luis Obispo vs. Cal Poly, to be witnessed on ESPN with the whole nation's eyes on the 2026 Vandals.
