Stuart's Maiden Goal Pushes Vandals to 3-1-1 Start

MOSCOW, Idaho Idaho Soccer picked up a 1-0 victory over CSU Bakersfield Thursday night at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome as goalkeeper Paula Flores notched her 19th career shutout. 
 
The Vandals came out with energy in front of their home crowd, creating a strong offensive presence and putting pressure on the Roadrunners' defense getting nine shots off in the opening 45 minutes, forcing the CSUB keeper to make four first half saves. Idaho continued to battle throughout the first half, looking to build on its attacking momentum and find the breakthrough.

opened the scoring in the second half, as forward Makenna Stuart found the back of the net  on a strong header to give the Vandals a 1-0 advantage. Stuart got the starting nod for the first time in her career, and turned it into her first college goal in the 50th minute. Idaho continued to apply pressure while working to maintain its lead as the match entered its final minutes.

he Roadrunners continued to push forward in search of a tying goal, but Idaho's stout defense stood strong and kept CSU Bakersfield off the scoreboard, through the final whistle to secure the shutout, as the Roadrunners only got four shots off all match.  

The win gives Idaho
their second win at home as the Vandals continue their strong start to the 2026 season. 
 
UP NEXT 
Idaho will look to carry the momentum from Thursday night's victory into its week-long road trip to the Coyote State, where the Black and Gold will face off against South Dakota on September 3 and South Dakota State on September 6.
