SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah - The Vandal women's golf team opened its 2026-27 season at the Wolverine Invitational, hosted by Utah Valley at Talons Cove Golf Course.

The Vandals shaved five strokes off their score in the second round and continued trending in the right direction with their lowest round of the tournament in the final round. Utah Valley claimed the team title at 11-over, with Wyoming, Southern Utah and Weber State rounding out the top four.

Lucy Newell paced the Vandals, at 13-over. Zoe Newell wasn't far behind, at 14-over and finishing strong with a 1-over final round - her best of the week.

Laura Caamaño and Diya Brar each finished at 16-over, with Brar closing on a high note by shaving four strokes off her opening round in the final 18. Fjola Vidarsdottir rounded out the Vandals' lineup, at 22-over.

With the season-opening event in the books, Idaho now turns its attention to the Kalispel Invitational hosted at Kalispel Golf and Country Club in Spokane, Washington on September 21st and 22nd.
