DENVER, Colo. – Idaho Volleyball battled through a five-set marathon on the road, outlasting Marist 3-2 to pick up their third win of the season.
The Vandals came out strong, taking the first set 25-15 before Marist rallied to even things up at one set apiece, 25-17. Idaho regained control in the third, 25-19, but the Red Foxes forced a fifth with a 25-16 win in the fourth. In the decider, the Brave and Bold pulled away for a 15-8 finish to close out the victory.
Idaho's defense set the tone all night, out-blocking Marist 14-7 and hitting .210 as a team compared to Marist's .125, a nearly 100-point swing in efficiency.
Anika Hudson turned in one of the most efficient nights of the season, hitting .647 on her way to 11 kills, while also leading Idaho with four total blocks.
Kiana Greer paced the offense with 14 kills and 16 points, and
Sophie Danielson chipped in 10 kills on a .269 clip.
Koen Makaula and
Sarah Sullivan each contributed to the block effort with three and one blocks, respectively, as well as nine kills and 10 points.
Setter Zola Zuccolo ran the offense with a team-high 24 assists, and
Csenge Krakoczki added 17 of her own along with 6 digs.
Keira Kleidon led the defensive effort with 20 digs, while Greer added 8 digs to round out a well-balanced back row performance.
