Academic Eligibility

To maintain eligibility for competition and athletic financial aid, each student-athlete must meet requirements. In general, student-athletes must:

  • Be enrolled and attending as a full-time student each semester. Full time status at Idaho is a minimum of 12 credits for undergraduate students and 9 credits for graduate students.
  • Earn at least 6 credits of degree-applicable credits (Football Only: nine hours must be completed during the Fall term).
    • Please note that only earning the minimum will cause you to have potential degree progress issues in future semesters.
  • Earn at least 24 hours of degree-applicable credits during your first year in order to be eligible to compete the next year.
    • Summer school courses earned prior to or immediately after the conclusion of the first academic year can be used to reach the 24 credit requirement.
    • AP courses from high school can be used to satisfy this requirement if the University of Idaho accepts them for credit
  • Earn at least 18 degree-applicable credits every academic year (fall and spring semesters only)
  • Declare a major before the 5th semester of collegiate enrollment.
  • Meet the percentage-of-degree and minimum GPA requirements as indicated below.
