DEFINITIONS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Representative of Athletics Interest

You are a Representative of Athletics Interests (i.e., booster) if you:

•Are or have been a member of any organization promoting Vandal athletics;

•Have ever made a donation to the Athletics Department or any booster organization;

•Have ever assisted, or have been requested o assist, in evaluating or recruiting PSAs;

•Have ever helped to arrange or have provided benefits to enrolled student-athletes, PSAs, or their family members; or

•Promoted the Idaho athletics program.

Once you become a Representative of Athletics Interests, you retain this status FOREVER!

Prospective Student-Athlete

A prospective student-athlete (i.e., PSA, prospect or recruit) is a student who has started classes for the ninth grade. A student who has not started classes for the ninth grade becomes a PSA if the student receives any benefit that Idaho does not provide to all prospective students in general. Idaho requests that you treat all students as recruits.

Contact

A contact is any face-to-face encounter between a recruit or the recruit’s family members and an institutional staff member or athletics representative (i.e., booster) during which any dialogue occurs in excess of an exchange of a greeting. Any face-to-face encounter that is prearranged or that takes place on the grounds of the recruit’s school or at the site of organized competition or practice involving the recruit or the recruit’s high school, prep school, two-year college, or all-star team is a contact, regardless of the conversation that occurs.

Extra Benefit

An extra benefit is any special arrangement by a Idaho employee or representative of Idaho's athletics interests (i.e., booster) to provide a student-athlete, recruit, or their family members or friends a benefit not authorized by NCAA rules.
