Biography

RS SENIOR (FALL 2021): Started all 11 games… recorded 44 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks…forced four fumbles, and returned one for a touchdown…Third-team All-Conference. 

RS SENIOR (SPRING 2021): Appeared in all six games during the shortened spring season… led the Vandals with 7.5 tackles for loss… also recorded two sacks and finished the year with 19 total tackles… recorded a season-high five tackles twice, both coming against Eastern Washington… Preseason Phil Steele All-Big Sky Second Team… retains the year of eligibility due to NCAA exemptions surrounding COVID-19

RS JUNIOR (2019): Started the first eight games of the year before sustaining a season-ending injury… was having an exceptional season prior to injury, and still finished the year first on the team with four forced fumbles and 13.5 tackles for loss, and second with 3.5 sacks… recorded a season-high nine tackles against Eastern Washington (Sept. 21)… also forced a fumble, broke up three passes and had three quarterback hurries against the Eagles, earning STATS LLC FCS National Defensive Player of the Week and ROOT Sports Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week… finished the season with 44 tackles, the fifth most on the team

RS SOPHOMORE (2018): Played in 10 games...recorded 30 tackles, including eight TFLs and four sacks...season-high seven tackles against North Dakota (Nov. 3), with three TFLs and two sacks...also had three TFLs and two sacks at Eastern Washington (Oct. 27)...tallied six tackles and two pass breakups at UC Davis (Sept. 22).

RS FRESHMAN (2017): Saw action in 11 games, including two starts...recorded 10 tackles on the season...0.5 tackles for loss.

FRESHMAN (2016): Redshirted

High school: Three-year team captain at Morningside High School...first-team all-conference selection...also played basketball for the Monarchs...member of academic honor roll as a junior and senior.

Personal: Son of Charity Akanno and Eugene Durugbo...majoring in exercise science and health.
