Artz is a defensive student assistant after a three-year playing career for the Vandals. He was a standout special teams contributor for the Vandals from 2008-10 and was voted special teams captain as a senior in 2010.

He played safety, was the holder on field goals and played every facet of special teams for Idaho. Artz was honored as the team's 2010 Special Team Ironman Award winner. He helped lead Idaho to a 2009 Humanitarian Bowl victory.

Artz and his wife, Cristal, were married in summer 2010. He is originally from Grandview, Wash. He earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Healthy in 2010 and will complete his master's degree in Movement and Leisure Sciences this year.
