Slack is a 2007 graduate of the University of Colorado, where he majored in Communications and minored in Business.

His coaching career began in 2010 at Chicago’s St. Patrick’s High School where he coached linebackers for one season. After his year at St. Patrick’s, he spent one season as passing game and special teams coordinator as well as receivers and running backs coach. In the summer of 2012, he coached receivers at the University of Colorado camp, which included serving as the offensive coordinator for a 7-on-7 tournament.

He returned to his hometown of Colorado Springs and joined the staff of St. Mary's High School in the fall of 2012, where he was the passing game coordinator along with serving as the quarterbacks and inside linebackers coach.

Slack a 2001 graduate of Rampart High School was a member of the 1998 state championship football team.

Slack also was a collegiate scout and recruiting coordinator for the National Collegiate Scouting Association from 2008-10. He was charged with identifying talent and prospect lists for NCAA Division I, II and III schools as well as NAIA and junior college teams.

He joined Paul Petrino’s Vandal staff in the summer of 2013.
