Biography
Quoting coach Pfeifer: "We have very high expectations for Darin as we approach this season. It was probably unfair to throw Darin on the court last season without any preseason practice and expect him to be a significant high-level performer. That is not the case coming into this season. He has spent all spring and summer preparing for his senior year."
As a junior (2006-07): Joined the Vandals as a junior in December... Played in just 22 of Idaho’s 31 games, but started all 22 contests... Averaged 27.5 minutes per contest... Averaged 9.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game... Shot 34-percent from the floor and 28-percent from beyond the 3-point arc... Led the team with 95 defensive rebounds and 42 blocked shots... Was the only Idaho player to garner a double-double, doing so twice... Ended the season ranked No. 3 in blocked shots (2.06), No. 7 in defensive rebounds (4.88) and No. 13 in rebounding (6.2) in WAC games... Scored a career-high 20 points on two occasions... Earned team highs with 15 rebounds at Fresno State (Jan. 4) and six blocked shots vs. New Mexico State (Jan. 11)... His 42 blocked shots tied for sixth on Idaho’s single-season blocks list... His six blocked shots vs. New Mexico State (Jan. 11) tied for fourth on Idaho’s single-game blocks list.
At North Idaho College: Spent two seasons at North Idaho College at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho... Averaged 13.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while adding 42 blocks on the season as a sophomore.... Was an All-Region 18 Scenic West Athletic Conference first team selection and a preseason second team All-American... Recorded four double-doubles on the season and ranked third in the SWAC in blocks... Helped lead the Cardinals to the SWAC regular season championship and a national ranking as high as 13th during the season... Averaged 11.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game and was selected to the All-SWAC honorable mention team as a redshirt freshman... Shot over 36 percent from the 3-point line.
