Luke Chavez

Lucas Chavez enters his second season as a Graduate Assistant on the Idaho Men's Basketball coaching staff, and has been elevated to a player development role for the 2025-26 season.

Lucas played basketball under Idaho Head Men's Basketball Coach, Coach Pribble, at Saint Martin's University for two seasons, from 2017 to 2019. He was one of the top players in the GNAC, earning NABC First Team West Region, NCAA West Region All-Tournament Team, and GNAC Unanimous First Team All-Conference following his senior season in 2019. He helped lead the Saints to a school record 26 wins, the program's first Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular-season championship, and a berth to the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Tournament.

Before Saint Martin's, he played two seasons for South Puget Sound Community College. He led the Clippers to a first-place finish in the West Region and took home MVP honors after averaging 15.4 points per game.

Following his collegiate career, Chavez competed professionally in Panama for two seasons, from 2021 to 2023. In his final season for the Centinelas, he averaged 18.8 points per game, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.6 assists.

Chavez graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Educational Studies from Saint Martin's University in 2019. He is currently completing a Master's degree in Adult Organizational Learning and Leadership.
