Andrew Bloom returns to the University of Idaho track & field program as a graduate assistant for the 2017 season. He is working towards a MS in movement science with and emphasis in sports psychology. Bloom assists with training the sprinters and jumpers, plans alumni outreach events, and will be a key member of planning and hosting the 2018 Big Sky Conference Championships in Moscow, Idaho.
The past two seasons Bloom served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Seattle University track & field team, working primarily with the sprint events. While with the Redhawks he helped coach multiple athletes to top-three finishes at the WAC Track & Field Championships. Bloom holds a level two certification in the Sprints, Hurdles, Relays and Strength and Conditioning from USTFCCCA, as well as a level one certification with USATF.
Bloom was a four-year letter winner at Idaho as a student-athlete in both indoor and outdoor track and field, he was also a member of four WAC Championship teams. In 2014, he placed second in the 400m at WAC Indoor Championships with a time of 47.90 and holds an all-time outdoor best of 47.72. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science & Health and a Minor in Business.Â
While in college, Bloom served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the University of Idaho and for the WAC. Bloom also spent two seasons coaching with the Pullman Comets, a local track & field club in Eastern Washington
