The 2023 season was one for the record books for the sprints and hurdles crew. Deyondre Davis qualified for his third consecutive NCAA West Preliminary Championships in the 400 hurdles and was joined by first time participant Jurrian Hering in the 110 hurdles.
The sprints and hurdles group continued to lead the way at the conference championships in 2023. The men achieved all-conference awards outdoors in all sprints and hurdles events with Spencer Barrera (400m), Deyondre Davis (400H), Jemini Archer (200m) earning the silver medal, along with the 4x100m of Archer, Mika Brouwer, Barrera, and Jurrian Hering. At the indoor championship held in Moscow, the Vandals continued to show they were a force in the sprints and hurdles. Camryn Crouch again attained double medallist status in the 60 meters and 200 meters. Her 200 meter preliminary and finals times both bettered the school record held by Olypmian Angela Whyte, and her 60m time was .01” off the school record, also held by Whyte. The women’s quartet of Olivia Martin, Belen Garcia, Franziska Stoehr, and Prabhasha Wickramaarachichi finished in third place in the 4x400m continuing their run on the podium. Spencer Barrera returned to the top of the podium in the 400m, and anchored the 4x400m relay to the conference title, the first Big Sky indoor relay title since 1996. Mika Brouwer returned to form after injuries in 2022 and earned the silver medal in the 200m.
2022 saw tremendous success for the sprints, hurdles, and relays groups working with Fiebelkorn. Three individuals; Spencer Barrera (400 meters), Deyondre Davis (400 hurdles), and Alex Ayers (400 hurdles) qualified for the NCAA West Region Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
