Kinsey Gomez

  • Title
    Volunteer Assistant
Kinsey Gomez returns to Moscow as a volunteer assistant coach with the distance group for the 2017 season.  Gomez, an incredible athlete in her own right, spent one season with the Vandals, earning All-America honors in the 10k in 2016.

Gomez competed for Idaho in both cross country and track and field during the 2015-16 seasons.  She was Idaho’s top finisher in every cross country meet she competed in, finishing no lower than third overall in any meet before the NCAA Championships.  On the track, Gomez was exceptional, finishing the 2016 season ranked atop three different events (1500-meters, 5000-meters, 10,000-meters) and qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 10k.  She would go on to finish 10th at the Championships, earning second team All-America honors.

Despite competing for just one season, Gomez is in the Idaho record books in three events.  She holds the program record in the 10k, running 33:18.00, and has the third fastest time in the 5k at 16:11.17.  Her best time of 4:22.10 in the 1500-meters is fourth best all-time,

Gomez went pro following the 2016 season, signing with the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project in Michigan.  After competing with the marathon-heavy group, Gomez decided to refocus on the track and the 10,000-meters, returning to the Inland Northwest to train.
