The Vandals’ associate head coach enters his eighth season with the Idaho women’s basketball program.

Muscatell has climbed the ranks at Idaho, most recently being promoted to associate head coach for the 2024-25 season under then first-year head coach, Arthur Moreira.

An instrumental factor in the Vandals’ success in the past seasons since 2018, Muscatell has been vital in the development of guards and forwards for Idaho. He has been responsible for forward and post player development, most recently seen in Beyonce Bea, the two-time unanimous First Team All-Big Sky selection, and Olivia Nelson who won Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year and was a unanimous First Team All-Big Sky selection. Throughout his time in Moscow, he has coached 10 Vandals who have gone on to play professionally.

During his tenure in Moscow, Muscatell has worn many hats dealing with program recruiting, administration and on-court responsibilities. Throughout the season, Muscatell is responsible for much of the team's scouting and game plans. Leading up to the 2024-25 season when Idaho was tabbed to finish eighth in the conference but ultimately finished in third, Muscatell was put in charge of coordinating offensive schemes for the Vandals and Idaho saw a six points per game increase from the prior year.

As a recruiter, he signed multiple student-athletes that were part of the starting lineup as freshmen in over 80% of Idaho’s games. Muscatell has deep recruiting connections in the PNW, specifically California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

Muscatell led the program administrative efforts, coordinating all team travel including transportation and hotels. He executed all video needs of the staff, including film breakdown and assisted with game scheduling.

With Muscatell on staff, the Vandals earned one Big Sky regular season conference championship in 2019 and made appearances in the Big Sky tournament championship game in 2020 and 2021.

Prior to Idaho, he served as the assistant coach at Portland for three seasons. He oversaw scouting player personnel tendencies for all opponents and led offensive and defensive scouting reports. He developed recruiting contacts within Southern California, Arizona and internationally in Spain and Australia.

In the assistant coach role, Muscatell was tabbed Silver Waves Media’s Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistant Coach and named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association “30-Under-30” list.

Muscatell spent a season as a video coordinator at San Jose State University in 2014-15. He broke down film and managed all film exchange.

In undergrad, Muscatell was a practice player during his four years at Oregon. He graduated in 2013 with a degree in business administration.

He and his wife, Drew, have two sons named Micah and Lucas.
