Biography
2006: Baumgartner continued as a force for Idaho as she appeared in 18 games and scored one goal. She scored the lone Idaho goal in a 1-1 tie at Boise State and managed six shots during the season. She started five of the games in which she appeared.
2005: Baumgartner made a large impact in her first year as a Vandal, playing in 18 games and scoring two goals. She earned Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors by scoring two goals on two shots, including the game winner vs. Northern Colorado. The POW honor was the first for an Idaho player since the 2003 season.
High School/Club: Sonja Baumgartner originally hails from Switzerland and spent her high school playing days at Central High School at Independence, Ore. She played at the highest level of the Swiss National League and was training for the Swiss National Team before suffering an injury that kept her from progressing. Baumgartner played for coach Showler in Oregon when he coached the Salem United club team.
Personal: She is the daughter of Rolf and Esther Baumgartner. She is majoring in Sport Science at Idaho.
