Sanne Louwers

Sanne Louwers enters her fourth season as the Idaho women's tennis head coach after being named the program's leader on January 12, 2022.

In 2024, the Vandals earned their most wins in a single season since 2019 with a 9-9 overall mark. Despite missing out on an opportunity to compete in the conference tournament, Idaho still turned in notable performances. Idaho struck signature wins over Montana and Weber State in conference action after finishing non-conference play with a 6-4 mark. True freshman Naomi Schraeder led the team with a 13-4 singles record and a spot on the All-Big Sky Singles Second Team.

In Louwers’ second season leading the Vandals, the team finished 3-14 overall and 1-7 in conference. After completing the 2023 dual season with a 6-1 conference singles record, Annabel Davis was selected as an All-Big Sky First Team recipient. Off the court, the Vandals were selected to the ITA All-Academic team for their efforts in the classroom.

As director of the program in 2022, Louwers and the Vandals captured the sixth seed in the Big Sky Tournament after coming back and defeating Eastern Washington 4-3 in the final match of the regular season. Idaho finished with a 5-13 overall mark and a 3-5 Big Sky record. Ke Syuan Jhang rose to be one of the top singles players in the conference with a 12-4 dual record, earning unanimous All-Big Sky Singles First Team honors.

Louwers, a native of Nuenen, Netherlands, has spent time coaching at the collegiate and club levels for six years. She was previously the head tennis professional at the St. Petersburg Country Club in Florida.

Before her experience at the club level, Louwers spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the women's tennis team at Utah State University from 2017 to 2020. During her time at USU, she helped guide the Aggies to a program-record fifth-consecutive postseason win in 2019 and also helped Utah State to a program record-tying 14 wins in 2018.

Before her stop at USU, Louwers spent one season as an assistant at Southern Utah University and one season as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater, LIU Brooklyn. She also served as the head tennis professional at DS Tennis and assistant manager at The Club of Riverdale in the Bronx in 2016.

Louwers competed collegiately for LIU Brooklyn where she was named the 2013-14 Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year, earned All-NEC honors three years in a row and was named NEC Rookie of the Year. After four seasons at LIU Brooklyn, she ended her college career with an overall record of 52-21 in singles play and 43-17 in doubles.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in management and marketing at LIU Brooklyn in 2015 while also spending a year in the MBA program at Southern Utah.
