Biography

2011: Church had 94 kills and played in 100 games in the regular season, averaging nearly 1.0 kill per game...she hit .160 on the year and averaged 1.73 digs, 0.90 blocks and 1.50 points per game...nearly had her first double-double in Idaho’s regular season finale against Nevada on Nov. 12 when she finished the match with nine digs and nine blocks...the nine blocks were a season-high and matched her previous career-high...had six double-digit dig matches, including a season-high 15 digs on Oct. 5 against Eastern Washington...had a season-high eight kills on two occasions, including the season-opener against Butler, and again on Oct. 7 against Utah State in a match in which she had just one error on 11 attempts and hit a career-high .636...had a career-high two aces on three occasions.


2010: Church finished the season with 142 kills, 227 digs and 85 blocks...she hit .193 for the season...played in 111 games and averaged 1.28 kills and 2.05 digs per game...she also finished with 10 aces and 20 assists on the year...had a career-high 11 kills on three occasions, including at Gonzaga on Sept. 18, at New Mexico State on Oct. 16 and against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 13...had two double-doubles on the season...finished with double-digit digs on 11 occasions, including a career-high 19 in a three-set win at Louisiana Tech on Oct. 14...had 17 digs in Idaho’s opening round WAC tournament win over Boise State...had a career-high nine blocks on Sept. 18 against Gonzaga to go along with 15 digs and 11 kills...had six kills and hit .308 to go along with one assist, two aces, nine digs and five total blocks in Idaho’s 3-1 win over Nevada on Oct. 9...set then career highs in Kills (6), digs (13) and assists (2), against Santa Clara on Sept. 2.

2009: Church saw limited action in her redshirt-freshman season, playing in seven games for the Vandals...finished the season with two kills and two blocks.

2008: Church sat out the 2008 season as a redshirt.

At Kamiak High School: Led the Knights to a fourth-place finish at the State Championship Tournament in 2007...won three consecutive Wesco-South District Championships...led her team in kills for three seasons and averaged 15 kills per match...earned first team All-Wesco and first team all-area honors during her junior and sophomore seasons...she also starred as a member of Mukliteo High School’s basketball and track and field teams.

Personal: Full name is Julia Joyce Church... born Feb. 22, 1990 at Las Vegas, Nevada...daughter of Kim and Kathleen Church...has four brothers, Jimmy, Christopher, Paul and Jonathan.
