Biography

2010: Taylor was a second team all-WAC selection and a WAC Player of the Week in 2010...she finished the season with a .258 hitting percentage and 140.0 total blocks...she averaged 1.94 kills per game and 1.28 blocks...she finished with double-digit kills in eight matches throughout the season, including a career-high 17 against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 13... she finished her career with 508 kills, 365 blocks and 149 digs...she earned her first career WAC Player of the Week honor for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3 after racking up 19 kills and 18 digs and hitting .439 for the week... Taylor had a career-high 11 blocks on Sept. 29 at Boise State, and had her first double-double of the season by adding 11 kills... she had 12 kills while hitting .579 to go along with five blocks against Utah State on Oct. 6... had eight blocks and nine kills and hit .500 on Oct. 9 against Nevada... was named to the all-tournament team at the Gonzaga Volleyball Tournament after recording 28 kills, a .338 hitting percentage, 13 blocks, 10 digs and three aces in Idaho's three matches...she had 11 kills against Seattle University on Sept. 17...had eight blocks against Gonzaga on Sept. 18...Taylor hit a season-high .727 on Sept. 12 against Montana State, tallying eight kills on 11 attempts and no errors... she finished with six total blocks on Sept. 10 against Eastern Washington.

2009: Taylor was third on the team in both blocks and kills in 2009, finishing her junior season with 115 total blocks and 189 kills...hit .184 for the season and averaged 1.62 kills and 0.98 blocks per game...had a season-high six blocks on six occasions...had a career-high .647 hitting percentage with 11 kills on 17 total attempts and no errors against Louisiana Tech on Oct. 8...hit .520 with a season-high 14 kills on Sept. 5 against UNLV...also had no errors on Aug. 29 against Cal State Fullerton when she hit .353 with six kills...played in all 117 games for the Vandals...was a WAC all-academic selection.

2008: Played in 18 matches and started 13... averaged 1.53 kills and 1.47 blocks per set... hit .235 for the season... ranked first in the WAC in WAC games for blocks (1.61)... totaled 10 block assists vs. Nevada to tie for 10th on Idaho's single-set records list... set career highs with eight kills vs. San Jose State, a .429 hitting percentage vs. South Dakota State, five digs vs. Southeast Missouri State, one ace vs. Louisiana Tech, 10 blocks vs. Nevada, and two assists vs. Southeast Missouri State... hit better than .300 in seven matches... was a WAC all-academic selection.

2007: Played in 46 games in 19 matches... totaled 36 kills (0.78 kills per game) and 41 blocks (0.89 blocks per game)... hit better than .300 in five matches... ranked fourth on the team with a 0.89 blocks per game average... recorded seven kills and a hitting percentage of .316 vs. San Jose State... tallied eight blocks vs. #21 Oklahoma... earned Idaho's Most Improved award.

2006: Taylor sat out the 2006 season as a redshirt.

At Moscow High School: Taylor led the Moscow High School Bears to a 29-0 season and the 4A state championship her senior year... recorded 22 kills and seven blocks at the state tournament... the Bears were also Inland Empire League champions and Taylor was the IEL co-MVP... was an All-North Idaho selection her junior and senior seasons as well as an All-Palouse selection for three years... the Bears were ranked as high as #71 by PrepVolleyball.com her senior season... was selected as the Gatorade Idaho Volleyball Player of the Year her senior season after averaging 3.33 kills and 1.46 blocks per game.

Personal: Full name is Kelsey Marie Taylor... born May 12, 1988 at Moscow, Idaho... daughter of Julie and Tim Taylor... both Tim and Julie competed at Idaho in track and field... Julie is currently an assistant coach for the Vandal track and field team... two of Taylor's aunts, Maureen and Kathleen, competed for the Vandal volleyball team in the 70s... has one brother, Alex... also competed in basketball and track and field at Moscow High School... played five years for the Moscow Black Volleyball Club Team.
