HEIM

Caleb Heim

Heim arrived in Idaho in May 2022 as the head strength and conditioning coach.

As the head of the strength and conditioning staff, Heim oversees the development and sports preparation for all Vandal athletics. He has helped bridge the strength and conditioning program with nutrition and athletic training to provide a well-rounded experience for Vandal student-athletes. Most recently, Heim took part in bringing in top-of-the-line technology with Perch, a 3-D camera technology used to optimize performance with velocity-based training on all the racks in the Vandals weight room.

Heim leads the football team in the weight room where he develops and implements all aspects of training for the program. He manages the daily nutrition alongside the sports dietetics staff as well as working with the sports medicine team on return to play protocols. In his first season with Vandal football, he helped lead the team to the FCS playoffs.

Before Idaho, Heim served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of South Dakota from January 2018 - May 2022. At USD, Heim worked primarily with football, women's basketball, and softball. He was part of a staff that led the Coyotes to an FCS playoff berth in 2021. The women's basketball team was a dominant presence among mid-major programs for four seasons. The Coyotes boasted a 59-4 record in conference over four seasons with three conference titles and four NCAA appearances including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2022. After the 2019-20 season, the Coyotes finished the season with a 30-2 record and ranked No. 11 in the nation.

Heim worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Nebraska from January 2016 - December 2017. At Nebraska, he worked with the football program. The year prior, he served as the head strength and conditioning coach at his alma mater, Southwest Minnesota State University from Fall of 2015-2016.

During 2014, Heim worked with South Carolina's football program as a strength and conditioning intern before returning back to SMSU.

In 2013, Heim started as a student assistant coach with football at the Southwest Minnesota State University. He eventually was promoted to a graduate assistant and transitioned into strength and conditioning in 2014.

Heim earned his Master's of Nutrition and Health Science from Nebraska in 2017. He attended and played football at Southwest Minnesota State University earning a Bachelor's in Exercise Science.

Heim hails from Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and is joined by his wife Katie and son Bennett in Moscow.
