Sean McIlraith serves as the executive assistant to the director of athletics, Terry Gawlik. He began working full-time in the athletic department in July 2018, and has served as the public address announcer for Vandal Athletics since 2012. Additionally, McIlraith has served as a Green Dot college curriculum facilitator through the dean of student’s Violence Prevention Programs since 2017.

Previously, McIlraith worked in the U of I’s Department of Psychology and Communications Studies from 2012-2015 and in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences dean’s office from 2015-2018. In 2017, McIlraith completed the U of I’s Leadership Academy program and received one of the university’s Outstanding Staff Employee Awards.

McIlraith grew up in Orting, Washington, and graduated from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) in 2007 with a degree in communications-broadcast journalism, and a minor in sports management. He was a member of the Lute football program and managed the student radio station.

Upon graduating from PLU, he worked as a news editor for KOMO News Radio in Seattle and as an entertainment associate for the Seattle Supersonics and Seattle Storm. Prior to working at the U of I, he worked in Washington State University’s (WSU) College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences from 2009-2012.

His partner, Bekah MillerMacPhee, is a Vandal alumna, and currently works at WSU. They enjoy spending time with their son, Sullivan, and daughter, Marion.
