Vandals Fall Again In Big West Conference Play

NORTHIRIDGE, Calif. - The University of Idaho women's soccer team could not escape the weekend with a win as the Vandals fell 3-0 to Cal State Northridge Sunday.

Cal State Northridge (8-2-1, 2-0-0) scored early to take a 1-0 lead near the 16-minute mark and the score remained 1-0 through half time. The Matadors then struck twice in the second half with goals in the 50th minute and 81st minute to hold the Vandals (2-7-0, 0-2-0) winless in the Big West Conference.

"We have to execute better on both sides of the ball," Vandal head coach Arby Busey said. "We are creating good chances, but we have to be better at taking those opportunities and putting them away. On the defensive side of the ball we have to be better at snuffing out our opponent's opportunities."

The Vandals were outshot 17-10 and the Matadors held a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. Adriane Kehl led the Vandals with three shots and one shot on goal.

"They had chances and made good on them. We had chances and could not put them away. We are putting in a lot of effort, now it is a matter of making that effort pay off. I feel better about where we are in conference than I have in years past and hopefully we can get some results out of our efforts," Busey said.
