RENO, Nev. - The University of Idaho women's volleyball team pushed Nevada to the limit before falling 24-30, 30-25, 30-19, 24-30, 8-15 in a Western Athletic Conference match Saturday evening.
After losing the first game, the Vandals came back with successive wins in games two and three. In the fourth, however, they couldn't match Nevada's renewed firepower.
"We just had too many hitting errors," coach Debbie Buchanan said. "Nevada picked up their level. We didn't respond. We could have done some things better but it was a good match."
Lauren Mathis led the Vandals with a solid .323 hitting percentage and Stacy Sode had 24 digs.
Buchanan said there is plenty the Vandals can take from this match as they continue a road swing that doesn't end until they're home again Nov. 2.
"We keep telling these kids we'll keep learning lessons along the way," said Buchanan, whose team is comprised mostly of freshmen and sophomores. "We can learn some things from this match."
