Vandals sweep away Bulldogs

 

MOSCOW - The University of Idaho volleyball team swept through Fresno State, Thursday night at Memorial Gym, game scores were 30-25, 30-25 and 30-22.

 

With the win Idaho improves to 3-1 in the WAC and 4-11 overall. The loss drops Fresno to 2-13 overall and 0-4 in the WAC.

 

"Any win is great and it is great to get it in three," head coach Debbie Buchanan said. "One thing we did tonight was block a lot of balls, especially in game two and three."

 

The Vandals recorded 10 more digs than the Bulldogs, 52-42 on the match; The Vandals also out blocked Fresno 19 to nine.

 

Saxony Brown had a solid outing for the Vandals as she notched eight kills and eight digs. Brown also recorded an ace.

 

"We wanted to go out and win big, we played that way early developing big leads, but we let them come back into them," Brown said. "We wanted to win badly tonight."

 

"We want to play a whole game without letting, up which is what we are struggling to do."

 

The Vandals return to the court Saturday when they face San Jose State. The match begins at 7 p.m., in Memorial Gym.
