MOSCOW, Idaho - Stanislav Glukhov has signed a letter of intent to play tennis for the University of Idaho this spring.
"Stanislav is a very talented player who has put up good junior results and wins in pro events as an amateur," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "He is still very young and gets by on great talent and hustle."
Glukhov, a native of Moscow, Russia, was ranked in the top 15 in juniors in Russia. As a junior, he won the Tennis Channel Open 16 year old division in Las Vegas, the Sochi Championships in Russia, and the Alt tour in 2005. He also made it to the semi-final round at the Air Berlin International Tennis Federation (ITF) event and was a quarterfinalist in the RTT Cup.
In professional events, Glukhov was a quarterfinalist in doubles at the Germany F13 Futures and in the Ľsseldorf Challenger in doubles.
"He has a love for the game. As he mentally and physically matures, he will become a great college player," Beaman said.
