MOSCOW, Idaho - College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its Academic All-District Teams on Tuesday, highlighting athletes across the country who make an impact in their sport and in the classroom.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, while maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Athletic requirements vary by sport. The tennis criteria states that a nominee must have been in the lineup for 70% of team competitions.
For Idaho men's tennis, Yu-Shun Lai was selected as a recipient of the prestigious award, one of six nominees from the Big Sky Conference among the hundreds of scholar-athletes named.Â
Lai, a sophomore, competed in eighteen of twenty-two singles matches for the Vandals, where he amassed a 7-11 record competing primarily at the #4 spot, while also earning opportunities at the #2, #3, and #5 singles slots throughout the season.Â
A mainstay in the doubles for Idaho, Lai partnered with Francisco Gay, Gabriel Moroder, and Eric Wang at different points in the season, collecting a season record of 8-9 in doubles, including a conference record of 5-2, which tied with for the team lead with Sebastian Medica and Chetanna Amadike.
Off the court, Lai is an undeclared major, but has maintained a 3.73 in his general studies to date in his time at Idaho.Â
