Vandals drop Lady Techsters in four

 

RUSTON, La., - The University of Idaho volleyball team won their first WAC match of the season, as they defeated the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters, 3-1, Saturday night at the Thomas Assembly Center. Match scores were 30-23, 28-30, 30-22, 30-21.

The win moves Idaho to 2-10 on the season and 1-1 in the WAC. Louisiana Tech falls to 5-13 on the season and 0-2 in WAC play.

"We were able to put some things together and get a win on the road," head coach Debbie Buchanan said. "We just need to keep plugging away and take one match at a time."

 

Idaho racked up 71 kills in the match, holding Tech to 50 in the match. The Vandals hit .262 while limiting the Lady Techsters to .129.

 

Haley Larsen led the Vandals on the night as she recorded 25 kills, hitting .477. She also had two digs and two blocks.

 

Two other Vandals, Amanda Bowman and Saxony Brown, also recorded double digit kills as they each racked up 11. Brown recorded a double-double on the night as she also collected 16 digs.

 

The Vandals return to action September 29, when they host intra-state rival Boise State at Memorial Gym on the UI campus, the match begins at 7 p.m.
