NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ? The University of Idaho volleyball team dropped its second consecutive match with a 3-0 loss to Cal State Fullerton at the CSUN Fremont I & L Tournament Friday.
The Vandals (13-16) committed 45 errors in the match compared to Fullerton's (14-15) 29 errors and fell 26-30, 27-30 and 22-30.
“Obviously we committed too many errors and gave them all those points,” Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan said. “We didn't have any player step up and compete in the match and that translates to a 3-0 loss. Even though we are at the end of the season we still need to come out and compete.”
Haley Larsen led Idaho with 16 kills and Sarah Loney finished with 11 kills. Larsen also added 13 digs and Jamie Richards tallied 18 digs at the libero position.
As a team, the Vandals hit .185 compared to Cal State Fullerton's .231 hitting percentage. The Titans held a 60-59 margin in digs while Idaho held the advantage in blocks at 8.5-7. Idaho had 10 service errors and zero service aces.
Idaho plays its final match of the season Saturday vs. Cal State Northridge in the second day of the tournament. The match begins at 7 p.m.
