BOISE, Idaho - Diver Amanda Morrow had the highlight finish of the day with her victory in the 3-meter diving event during Idaho's dual meet with Boise State University Saturday.
Morrow's was the only victory on the day during which the host Broncos swamped the Vandals 217-83 in Western Athletic Conference competition.
"No doubt they're a good team," Idaho coach Tom Jager said. "They're the best team we swam against this year."
Still, Jager said there could have been more positives for the Vandals had they not shown some trepidation in the early going.
"We were flat and kind of intimidated," Jager said. "They're good and they hit us hard. It took me until the first break when could talk to them. After the first break, we had some good swims."
Morrow, who won the 3-meter event by almost 10 points with 233.18, was second in the 1-meter event where she was just 2.55 behind winner Amanda Burnett.
In the swimming events, Nicole Schuh and Treasa Ring drew praise from Jager. Schuh was second in the 100-meter breaststroke and fifth in the 100-meter event. Ring was second in the 50 free and 100 butterfly.
Jager said his team's slow start shows its youth and inexperience but it's a learning opportunity.
"Nobody enjoys it - that's for sure but it's part of the development," Jager said. "It's certainly not for lack of effort."
The Vandals return home to the UI Swim Center next Saturday when they play host to Oregon State at 11 a.m.
