LARAMIE, Wyo. -- The Idaho women's basketball team suffered its second loss of the season Saturday afternoon, as Wyoming topped the Vandals 68-55. The Vandals fall to 5-2 on the season, while Wyoming improves to 5-2 with the win.
The Vandals were led by senior Derisa Taleni, who finished with a team-high 17 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Ganeaya Rogers had 11 points for Idaho, and Shaena Kuehu finished with eight. The Cowgirls were able to shut down Idaho's Yinka Olorunnife, who entered the game averaging 14.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Olorunnife finished Saturday's game with six points and five rebounds in 27 minutes of action before fouling out.
Idaho turned the ball over 20 times in the game, and finished with just three assists on their 21 made field goals. The Vandals shot 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the floor, but hit only 3-of-14 (.214) 3-point attempts.
Chaundra Sewell led the Cowgirls with 23 points, while Aubrey Vandiver had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Wyoming held a 41-33 advantage in rebounds and a 21-15 edge in second chance points. The Vandals out-scored Wyoming 32-24 in the paint.
Idaho led 16-15 with seven and a half minutes to play, but Wyoming went on a 13-0 run to pull ahead 28-16 and take a lead it would not relinquish. The closest the Vandals could get the rest of the way was within six points at 54-48 with just under six minutes to play.
The game was the last of five straight away from home for the Vandals, a stretch in which Idaho went 3-2. The Vandals will return home to face Montana on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. in Memorial Gym.
