Track & field debuts in regional rankings

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its first indoor track and field computer rankings of the season on Tuesday and included the Idaho men's and women's teams among its top West Region schools.

The Vandal men opened with a No. 10 ranking, while the women are No. 13.

Idaho has two men ranked in the top 50 in the NCAA, Jeremy Klas (No. 8, pole vault) and Eugenio Mannucci (No. 41, shot put). The top-ranked Vandal women are junior Gabby Midles (67th, weight throw) and sophomore Liga Velvere (67th, 400m).

The men's and women's teams will be in action this weekend at the UW Invitational at the Dempsey Indoor facility in Seattle, Wash., on Friday and Saturday.
