LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Idaho men's golf team
shot a seven-over 859 to tie for sixth at the annual Herb Wimberly
Intercollegiate at the New Mexico State University Golf Course. UNLV ran away
with the team title with a 34-under 818 with Wichita State second at 826. Host
New Mexico State was third at 847.
Senior Jarred Bossio had a closing-round 69 to finish at
two-under 211 and in a tie for ninth. Gordon Webb was next for the Vandals with
a three-over 216 to tie for 24th with Justin Kadin tied for 35th
at six-over 219. Alex Pounds tied for 38th with a 220 and Stefan
Richardson matched Bossio's closing 69 to finish at 221 and in a tie for 47th.
Bossio had two eagles during the tournament – the only
player to do so in the 54-hole event. He tied for the third-best par-4 scoring with
an average of 3.94 strokes per par-4. Webb was one of the tournament's best
over the par-5 with a scoring average of 4.44.
