MOSCOW, Idaho – Victor Sanders went off, as Idaho (2-1) defeated Linfield (2-0), 85-59, on Saturday night at Memorial Gym.  Sanders finished the night with a career-high 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 6-of-8 from beyond the arc.

“I thought we did a good job finding Vic and I thought he did a good job knocking down shots,” said head coach Don Verlin.  “I thought we did a good job finding the open guy against their matchup zone and Vic just happened to be open and he hit his shots.  I thought he played a very good basketball game.”

Sanders was effective in all aspects, as he grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists and picked up three steals.  Chad Sherwood was the only other Vandal in double-figures, finishing with a career-high 19 points.

The offense was in-sync from the start, as the Vandals assisted on all 14 made field goals in the first half.  In the end, Idaho finished with 21 assists on 27 buckets.

Linfield hung with Idaho for much of the game, but the Vandals used an 11-0 run midway through the second half to expand its lead and coast to the victory.  12 Vandals scored on the night.

As a team, Idaho shot 54 percent (27-of-50) from the field and 60 percent (12-of-20) from beyond the arc.  Linfield struggled, shooting 20-of-54 (37%) from the field and 12-of-37 (32.4%) from deep.  Idaho won the rebound battle narrowly, 29-26.
