Rehkow a semifinalist!

University of Idaho junior Austin Rehkow is a national semifinalist again - only this time it is for the Lou Groza Award, which annually recognizes the top FBS placekicker. Rehkow twice has been a semifinalist - and once a finalist, for the Ray Guy Award for the best FBS punter. The Guy Award semifinalists will be announced next week.

Rehkow, from Spokane Valley, Wash., is one of just three FBS players who handles both kicking and punting for his team and he is proving to be one of the best at both in Vandal history. He is the only double-duty player on the list of 20 semifinalists.

Heading into Saturday's Sun Belt Conference game at South Alabama, he has made 17 of 20 field goal attempts and 22 of 23 PATs. He is Idaho's scoring leader and is third in the Sun Belt and 32nd nationally with 9.1 points per game. His field goal percentage of .850 also is third in the league and17th nationally.

He is joined as a semifinalist by: Robert Aguayo (Florida State), Michael Badgley (Miami), Jonathan Barnes (Louisiana Tech), Daniel Carlson (Auburn), Trent Domingue (LSU), Jake Elliott (Memphis), Ka'imi Fairbairn (UCLA), Andrew Gantz (Cincinnati), Ross Martin (Duke), Jade Oberkrom (TCU), Andy Phillips (Utah), Bobby Puyol (UConn), Tyler Rausa (Boise State), Ryan Santoso (Minnesota), Garrett Schwettman (Western Kentucky), Joey Slye (Virginia Tech), Nick Smith (Marshall), Conrad Ukropina (Stanford) and Nick Weiler (North Carolina).
