McCorkell Earns Big Sky Honor

OGDEN, Utah—Idaho sophomore Geraldine McCorkell has been named the Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the Nov. 23-30, the conference announced on Tuesday.

McCorkell was one of two Vandals to earn all-tournament honors at the Cancun Challenge last week. In three games, the Australian sophomore averaged 20.0 points and eight rebounds per game, helping Idaho to a 2-1 tournament record.

McCorkell led the Vandals with scoring in two of the three games. She opened against No. 12 Duke with a team-best 18 points to go with her four rebounds, three steals and two assists. McCorkell was 6-for-14 from the field and 3-of-9 from 3-point range in the Vandals' six-point loss to the Blue Devils.

McCorkell again posted a team-high 18 points in Idaho's 75-55 win over Texas State on Friday. She added eight rebounds and two blocks to her line. She was 8-for-13 in the game, helping Idaho shoot 51.9 percent as a team.

The Vandals closed the tournament with an impressive 97-65 win over a perennial NCAA Tournament team in Iowa State. McCorkell posted her second double-double of the season with 24 points to go with her 12 boards, both career-highs. She helped Idaho score 65 second-half points by scoring the team's first five points of the third quarter. She finished 9-for-12 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 from 3.

On the season McCorkell leads the Big Sky with 18.5 ppg. She ranks in the conference's top five in both field goal percentage (56.2 percent) and 3-point field goal percentage (46.9 percent) this season.

Idaho is back in action on Wednesday against Northwest Christian at 5:30 p.m. The Vandals will move into the Cowan Spectrum on Saturday, hosting Wyoming at 2 p.m.
