OGDEN, Utah—The Big Sky Conference released its 2016 Preseason Tennis Polls on Wednesday. Both the Idaho men's and women's teams were picked to finish second by the conference's coaches.
Weber State led the men's voting with 115 total points, netting six first-place votes. The Idaho men received five first-place votes, totaling 112 points. Sacramento State led the women's side with 118 total points and eight first-place votes. The Vandal women received two first-place votes and 110 total points.
The Vandal men and women are both coming of championship seasons in 2015. The Idaho mean defeated Northern Arizona at the Big Sky Tournament last season. The women ended Sacramento State's historic 13 year championship-run, advancing to the NCAA Tournament with the upset.
Both programs earned the conference's No. 2 in their first season back in the Big Sky last season. The Men finished the season with an 8-3 Big Sky record. The women ended the Big Sky season at 10-1.
The women begin the season on Friday, Jan. 15, at Washington State. The men are set to open the spring season on Friday, Jan. 29, at Eastern Washington.
