MOSCOW, Idaho – The Vandals celebrated their seniors in the best way possible on Friday afternoon at Guy Wicks Field, with Idaho (10-4-4, 7-1-2) defeating Idaho State (7-13-0, 4-6-0), 2-0, to close out the regular season.

"Overall just really proud of our players, to come out and honor our seniors and come out and put the effort in that they did today and seal up our back-to-back regular season championship within the Big Sky," said head coach
Derek Pittman. "Couldn't say enough about not just our seniors, but the overall team. I thought the mentality from the opening was exactly what we needed."

With the win the Vandals lock up sole possession of the 2016 Big Sky Regular Season Championship. Idaho will host the Big Sky Tournament in Cheney next week.

Elexis Schlossarek got the scoring started in the 57
th minute, finishing from very close range.Â
Clara Gomez started the play with a ball over the top to
Kavita Battan. Battan needed to slide to get a foot on the ball, but touched it just past the keeper toward goal. Schlossarek stayed on the play and finished from very inside the 6-yard box to take the lead.

Idaho doubled its lead in the 67
th minute.Â
Josilyn Daggs started the play with a quick throw to
Megan Goo who touched it right back to Daggs. Daggs sent in the lofted cross toward the box where Gomez rose above the defense and headed in her fifth of the season.

Schlossarek would add another in the 84
th minute, finishing off a great cross from
Summer Kaneshiro.

Torell Stewart made just one save on the day, but earned her fifth shutout of the season.
